The spirit of the follower, the sheep if you will, is one of the lasting legacies of last fifty years. Borrowing Friedman’s “Bright Promises, Dismal Performance” title, the hopes and visions of a generation in love with itself and more than happy to force-feed the world revisionist history, cultivated a generation of sheep and while cutting and chopping the world’s financial affairs to their best interests, left a quagmire for others.
And while the warm cuddly sheep today sit idly by while corporations amass great fortunes and the sheer notion of middle-class is expunged from society, the quality of life spirals farther and farther down. Change is in the offing and a time for change requires a return to enlightenment.
The “reset button” is before the public and the next course will be to keep on the road that the little blue pill generation has paved its vast riches on the backs of generations or return to a time when ethics really were part of our lives, when values and mores were woven into the fabric of a people and not simply a buzzword by a politician with a “remember me in November” smile and an off-shore stock-option plan. A time that was as pure and honest as a home cooked meal on a Sunday evening.
It’s your call. Stay the course and watch the rabbit hole from the inside or take charge of a new tomorrow.
Push the button sheep.
