President Obama subservient to Turkey as Washington waits for Ankara’s direction

In a disturbing turn of events, President Obama is proving, through action, he lacks of strength to govern as he bows subserviently to external pressure. As the White House looks to reject House Resolution 252, which the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed on 4 March, it further establishes this presidency's ties to Turkey but much worse, a failing grade in democratic leadership and significant weakness within the Oval Office.

The first winds of newly elected President Obama’s intentions surfaced when he quickly journeyed to Ankara on April 5 to meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in order to spearhead Turkish efforts to emerge as the power centre for the Muslim world. President Obama’s present effort to thwart the recognition of the Armenian Genocide contradicts his promises as a candidate, when he noted that under his administration the United States would finally join other nations in recognizing the genocide. Time has once again proven those were outright lies but more terrifying, establishes a fundamental weakness within the highest office of the United States.

While parts of the American media will sweep the matter under the rug as an "Armenian issue" it represents a fundamental shift in the nations record on human rights as well as bowing meekly to foreign governments. For human rights advocates, this clearly marks a point of delineation for this regime and forever is shamed for not having the strength to do what is right.

Where this newly subservient approach by America ends is a guess few wish to make but does add significant ballast to those who question President Obama’s ability to govern, to weather tough storms and most importantly, present strong leadership. This is particularly of concern as America fight out of the deepest economic fallout since the Depression of the 1930's, it clearly lacks the strength from the highest office. President Obama is setting a shocking precedent of a weak United States, as it is now held hostage by Turkey and will elevate its position within the world. The weakness of the Presidency will further risk abandoning long-standing allies, including that of Israel and change the United States direction in foreign affairs. Washington waits for Ankara’s direction.
